Steven Malinowski continues his career with the Huskies as he transfers from player to coach for the 2007 season. Malinowski, who played the last two seasons for the Huskies, will serve as the student assistant coach during the 2007 campaign.
During his senior season, Malinowski saw action in 33 games and finished the year with a .260 batting average. He recorded three doubles and two home runs to end the season with 19 RBIs on a total of 27 hits.
As a junior in 2004, Malinowski started in 15 of the 25 games in which he appeared. He completed the season with 16 hits, 12 RBIs and 13 runs scored after transferring from Wake Forest University.
During his sophomore and freshman seasons at Wake Forest, Malinowski saw action in a total of 51 games as both a pitcher and infielder. He completed his freshman season with a .227 batting average while scoring 21 runs and driving in 20. Malinowski also added six doubles and one home run. At one point during the season, he made 25 consecutive starts behind the plate, reaching base in 18 games during the stretch for a .289 batting average with 15 RBI. In his first collegiate game, Malinowski went 4-for-5 with four runs scored to become the first freshman in Wake Forest history to tally four hits in their debut.
A native of Kensington, Conn., Malinowski is completing his degree this spring in coaching and administration.
